Technology Loans

When borrowing technology items, patrons agree to the following:

• To not open the casing or otherwise tamper or mishandle the device, including its internal components or software;
• They are a registered University of Toronto student, Faculty, or staff member with an active UTORid and valid TCard;
• To engage in appropriate use of the electronic, and will not use the device for unethical, inappropriate, illegal, prohibited or unauthorized purposes including but not limited to: sending unsolicited materials, misrepresenting oneself as another user, attempting to modify or gain access to files, passwords, or data belonging to others, sending, receiving or displaying text or graphics that are illegal or offensive;
• That the University of Toronto is not responsible for any damage to personal property, including but not limited to loss of data, damage to files, errors, omissions, and delays to personal computing devices using this device;
• Understand that the University may impose the following academic sanctions on students who have outstanding debts or obligations to the University in accordance with the Policy on Academic Sanctions:
  • withhold the release of the official diploma to students, alumni, and former students
  • withhold access to the statements of results and transcripts of students and alumni
  • refuse registration to continuing or returning students
• To pay replacement costs of the item due to damage, loss, or theft while it is signed out to me. An item replacement fee for items damaged, lost, or stolen may be assessed;
• That this electronic must be returned by the due date and that there is a $5.00/hour fee for late returns.
