Book Sale 2026!

The 2026 book sale will take place next fall at the John M. Kelly Library. Check back later for more information!

Proceeds from this sale are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the library’s collections and to contributing to the improvement of the library’s physical space, furnishings and technological equipment, for all those who study and work at the University of St. Michael’s College, now, and in the future. The Friends’ annual book sale contains hundreds of impressive gently used materials. The funds raised through this sale ensure that the John M. Kelly Library can continue to be the centre of academic life on the St. Michael’s College campus. The sale includes collections of special and general materials, sorted into academic and popular categories, including books, DVDs, CDs, ephemera and maps.

Donations

Donations for the 2026 book sale will be accepted starting December 1st, 2025.. You may drop off up to 8 boxes at the front desk of the Kelly Library during library operating hours.  Please pack the donations in banker or liquor boxes.

If you have more than 8 boxes for drop off, please contact the library at  kelly.library@utoronto.ca to arrange a drop off time at the loading dock, located at the rear of the Kelly Library.

If you require your donations to be picked up, we will see if we can arrange a volunteer for this. We cannot guarantee that we will have a volunteer driver in your area who can pick up items. Please let us know the address for pickup, contact name and phone number and number of boxes. Please pack books in banker boxes or liquor boxes. Please email kelly.friends@utoronto.ca to arrange this.

We do not accept:

• Items that have mold or the smell of mildew or are damaged or dirty
• Books with ripped covers, pages or highlighting throughout
• Magazines or journals (unless they are of historical interest)
• VHS tapes
• Textbooks older than 5 years
• Travel books older than 5 years (unless they are of historical interest)
