Every fall, the Friends of the Kelly Library hosts its annual book sale at the John M. Kelly Library. In support of its mission to support the initiatives and student spaces within the Kelly Library, the Friends’ annual book sale draws hundreds of people to sort through its impressive collection of gently-used materials. The funds raised through this sale ensure that the John M. Kelly Library can continue to be the center of academic life on the St. Michael’s College campus.
The sale includes a collection of special and general materials divided into academic and popular categories.
2023 Book Sale Details
John M. Kelly Library, 113 St. Joseph Street, Toronto
After a brief time away, the St. Mike’s Book Sale returns to the Kelly Library. The sale will take place on the ground floor of the library. Cash, debit, Visa, and Mastercard accepted.
Wednesday, September 27: 10am to 8pm
- $5 entry fee; students free with a student ID
Thursday, September 28: 10am to 8pm
- Free admission
Friday, September 29: 10am to 8pm
- Free admission
Saturday, September 30: 10am to 1pm
- Free admission; $15 per box all day
Donations
The Friends of the Kelly Library can no longer accept donations for the 2023 book sale. We thank you for your donations. We will open donations for the 2024 book sale in January 2024. Please email kelly.friends@utoronto.caif you have any questions.
Please do not leave boxes outside, or in any other part of the College, as they will not be secure.
Depending on the availability of our volunteer drivers and your location, we will try to arrange a pick-up for large collections of 20 boxes or more.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept the following items:
- Musty or moldy books or those with broken bindings or damaged covers
- Magazines or journals
- Textbooks more than five years old
- Encyclopedias
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- Time/Life series or other subscription series
- VHS or cassette tapes.

If you are interested in volunteering for the book sale, we are very much interested in hearing from you! Please email us at kelly.friends@utoronto.ca. We regularly look for volunteers to help us sort books prior to the sale, to pick up book donations from local donors, and to assist with all aspects of the sale itself.
